Dr. Karen Zenker
Dr. Karen Zenker graduated from Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine in 1997. Her undergraduate work was completed at North Texas University. She and Dr. Stephen King opened Corinth Animal Hospital together in May of 2001.
Her special interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery and preventative medicine, especially as it pertains to senior pets. She also has extensive experience in emergency and critical care medicine.
She is trained and certified in acupuncture and is fervent in the care and relief of chronic painful conditions. She has had great success in treating arthritis, orthopedic injuries, and various metabolic diseases.
She is originally from the Midwest, but has lived in Texas for more than thirty years and considers herself to be a true Texan. She lives outside of Gainesville with her family, dogs, cats, miniature donkeys, horses and various foster animals.
Dr. Valerie Head
Dr. Valerie Head joined Corinth Animal Hospital in January 2019. She loves providing care for your exotic mammals, birds, reptiles, cats and dogs. Her special interests are in surgery, exotic animal husbandry and preventive care! She graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University in 2017. She is a member of the Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV), the Association of Avian Veterinarians (AAV), the Association of Exotic Mammal Veterinarians (AEMV), as well as other local and national veterinary associations.
Her work with prairie dogs was published in the Journal of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science in 2017, and her work with chameleons was published in the Journal of Herpetological Medicine and Surgery in 2018.
Dr. Head and her husband, Shane, are originally from Salt Lake City, Utah. She worked as a veterinary technician while completing her undergraduate degree in biology at the University of Utah. They moved to Texas in 2017, bringing along all of their pets which include cats, dogs, reptiles, fish, and small mammals.
Dr. Katherine Cavazos
Dr. Katherine Cavazos joined Corinth Animal Hospital in May of 2019. Her veterinary career began when she brought home her first stray dog when she was in second grade.
Prior to becoming a veterinarian, Dr. Cavazos earned a B.A. in Dance from the University of Texas at Austin. After a fulfilling dancing career, she decided to pursue her life-long dream of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Cavazos graduated from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998.
Dr. Cavazos has worked in the DFW area since 2000. She has special interests in emergency, critical care, pain management, & geriatric medicine.
In her free time, she enjoys time with family and fun activities. She loves bird watching and she is still dancing!
Practice Manager + Technician
Jamey started working for Corinth Animal Hospital in August of 2009. She graduated from Tarleton State University with her Bachelor of Animal Science and Bachelor of Animal Industries with minors in Biology and Business.
After her start with Corinth Animal Hospital as a Kennel Technician, she was trained to be a technician and eventually a lead until finally the practice manager in April of 2015.
She also worked for several years in animal emergency. When she can get out of the office she loves training staff and educating clients and taking loving care of their four-legged kiddos. Jamey spends every free moment with her husband and their daughter Abbi and their dogs Tiernan and Eva and cat Ziva.
Receptionist + Technician
Renee started with Corinth Animal Hospital in December of 2010. She worked full time until 2013 when she decided to be a stay at home mom. She now works Saturdays and the occasional weekday on follow up calls or to cover other team member’s vacations. She mostly works in reception but loves dabbling on the technical side from time to time.
She also has her TPWD Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit. Her specialty is squirrels.
She and her fiancé, Darren, spend most of their time with their adorable daughter Aubrey. They live on a farm and have many different animals small and large.
Jamie has been a veterinary receptionist since 1999. She started working at Corinth Animal Hospital in June 2014.
Her passion is getting to know our clients and building relationships with them. She takes pride in caring for both clients and their pets and helping everyone to feel at home when they come in.
When not at work, she spends her free time with her daughter Kendall, dog Mellie and two cats Boo and Baby Cat.
Lead Kennel Technican
Doreen is an awesome member of our team. She joined us in January of 2017 and has been irreplaceable ever since. She takes special care of all our patients in the hospital giving them walks, love, and always makes sure they have a nice comfy place to lay while staying with us. She also stays on top of the cleanliness around the clinic and makes sure everything always smells wonderful.
She and her husband have lived in the Corinth area since 1995. She is a retired Special Education teacher. Doreen owns the cutest little capuchin monkey named Jingles. Wow, she is cute! She also is the owner of 6 cats, 1 bearded dragon, and a Pomeranian.
Receptionist + Technician Assistant
Jessica started at Corinth Animal Hospital in February of 2017. She started in the veterinary world as a receptionist in May 2016. She has excelled at building her skills and knowledge quickly and is excited for all else she has to learn. She loves educating clients and caring for all our patients.
Jessica and her husband have a beautiful daughter, Kayla, born in August of 2018. They enjoy all outdoor activities with their daughter, and their three dogs Diesel, Dozer, and Daisy.
Receptionist + Technician
Jessie started working at Corinth Animal hospital in May of 2017. She has received her Bachelor of Science from Oklahoma State University. She is now attending Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine. We hope she continues to work for us as a Veterinarian when she graduates!
In her free time, she loves to travel and spend time with her Yorkie, Tucker.
Ashley joined Corinth Animal Hospital in December of 2017. She became a certified dog groomer in 2011. She loves creating relationships with the pets she grooms. Making dogs, bunnies, and kitties feel comfortable, and refreshed is her top priority. Sending these pets home with the best looking haircuts possible always brings her joy.
When she is not beautifying pets she is working on her bachelor’s in business administration or spending time with her beloved pets.
Ashley has three dogs, two cats, a crested gecko, a leopard gecko, and a ball python that she loves caring for and learning more about from our doctors.
Lexi joined Corinth Animal Hospital in March of 2018. She started as a kennel technician and worked her way into being a veterinary technician.
She has plans to study veterinary medicine and become a veterinarian. She is always eager to learn new skills and grow her knowledge as a technician. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with family and friends and her two fur babies, Ruger and Reese.
Vonda joined Corinth Animal Hospital in January 2019. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and a minor in Biology.
Vonda is a retired Information Technology specialist, having worked for a major brokerage firm for over 27 years.
In her spare time, Vonda cares for her small menagerie of pets, which includes 3 dogs, 2 cats, a red-footed tortoise, a bearded dragon, and several aquariums of tropical fish and goldfish. She also enjoys woodworking, gardening, reading, music, and watching sports.
Kayley joined Corinth Animal Hospital in June of 2014 after years she left to further her education. She rejoined the team in March of 2019. Kayley has a heart for those experiencing loss of a family member. Her sincerest feelings are to make sad experiences as smooth and peaceful as possible. She feels so strongly about this she actually is working towards being a mortician or funeral home director.
She also loves helping pets with severe dental disease or infection by proper cleaning and medication administration and educating clients on how to help their pet at home through these problems.
While in school Kayley did a lot of work in equine reproduction and thought seriously about pursuing a career in this. However, we are happy to say she rejoined our team and loves seeing all her favorite patients and working with our great team.
In her free time, Kayley loves cuddling with her cat, Count Figaro von Maow Maow, playing with her dog, Harley, and chilling with her bearded dragon, Stinky.
Receptionist + Technician Assistant
Kristen joined Corinth Animal Hospital in July of 2019. She has worked as a veterinary receptionist for years. After joining our team and being a wonderful receptionist we have begun training her as a veterinary technician. She loves being a tech now, too, because she gets to make connections with the animals as well as the clients. She loves working here because she feels like she has a second family.
She is currently going to TWU working towards her bachelor’s in education. She loves animals but cannot wait to be a teacher. When she is not working and studying she is relaxing with her cat Charles reading or binge-watching Netflix.
Receptionist + Technician
Christina joined Corinth Animal Hospital in August of 2019. She started in 2002 as a kennel technician and grew into a veterinary technician of the years. Quality patient care is her passion. Working with exotics is something she has really come to enjoy. She loves gaining the knowledge and skill with exotics she has learned from Dr. Head.
In her free time, Christina loves cuddling and playing with her babies Charlie and Ellie.
Technician Assistant + Kennel Technician
Nahir joined Corinth Animal Hospital in November of 2019. He began as a kennel technician but has been training as a veterinary technician. He loves getting to work with and care for all the many different animals we see here. He loves our team and our doctors and all the fun and knowledge he gains here. He is currently going to college earning his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. He plans on going to graduate school for Exercise Science research.
In his free time, he enjoys cooking, running a crazy amount of miles, and listening to music. He loves spending time with his two four-legged kids Luna and Miles, his dog and cat.
Receptionist + Technician
Kayla joined Corinth Animal Hospital in March of 2020. She has been in the veterinary industry since 2007. She loves to educate pet owners on prevention and husbandry. She finds the exotic veterinary world to be her greatest interest. She also loves the doctors we have practicing here and their medical expertise.
Kayla spends her free time with her significant other Cody loving on her favorite chicken Princess, her three cats Brodie, Smokey, & Django, and playing with their dogs Doc & Holliday. They enjoy fishing, camping, boating, and going to concerts.
Riley joined Corinth Animal Hospital in April of 2020. Previously she was a zookeeper for 3 years working with exotic animals such as lemurs, kinkajous, camels, kangaroos, and many more at a wildlife ranch. After that, she started as a kennel tech at an exotics animal hospital and grew her skill and knowledge into being a Veterinary Technician. She loves continuing to work with exotics and domestics alike here with our team, but her favorite animals to work with are reptiles.
She spends her free time with her husband and their 3 snakes, 2 dogs, and 1 cat. She also loves spending time with her 2 horses that stay on her parent’s farm.
Julianna joined Corinth Animal Hospital in May 2020. She is currently a sophomore at Oklahoma State University where she is pursuing an Animal Science Degree.
In the fall of 2023 Julianna plans to attend Vet School at FloridaUniversity to earn her DVM and a specialization in Marine Veterinary Medicine.
Julianna has 4 pets that include 2 dogs, a rabbit, and a guinea pig. In her spare time, Julianna likes to write, paint, and enjoy nature.
Rachael joined Corinth Animal Hospital in August of 2020. She has been working in the veterinary world since 2001. She has always loved helping God’s little creatures receive the best care and helping them feel better when something was wrong. Other than being called up during her eight years as an Army Reservist and spending a year and a half serving in Iraq for our great country, she has spent every other minute training to be a technician with large and small animals.
In 2012 she began working at a local ER and has become a very skilled technician. She still works there full time and helps us out a couple of days a week. She is currently working towards earning her Licensed Veterinary Technician certification.
When she is not working one of her jobs caring for animals, she is at home taking care of her own on her little farm. She loves riding her horse, playing with her four dogs, and caring for all her chickens and a duck. She loves anything outdoors and hanging with friends.
Lauren joined our team in August of 2020. We are her first job in this field. She is working towards an undergrad in biology and then plans to move on to veterinary medical school. She is looking forward to being an exotics veterinarian.
She loves watching all the exotics that come into the hospital for boarding or medical attention. It is such a diverse side of veterinary medicine she cannot wait to begin her long term career taking care of the little animals. In her free time, she loves hiking, dog parking, and lake days with her babies Koda and Blue.
